There is no shortage of tax sales this summer! Last year some tax sales were cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19, but this year they are going ahead as usual, except that many of them are online….
Tax Lien Sales
Last year even some online tax lien auctions were postponed because county offices were closed. Some tax sales that would have happened last spring were postponed until summer. And because they were held later last year, a couple of these sales were held over this year as well. Maryland tax sales are usually over by now, but this year there are still a couple of counties that will have an online tax sale in August and September. New Jersey, and Louisiana, also have tax lien sales both online and live in the coming weeks.
There are plenty of tax sales coming up in Kentucky from now through October. The state of Montana has live tax sales throughout August into the first week and half of September. Wyoming tax sales have started and will also continue through the beginning of September.
Three Rhode Island municipalities have tax sales in August, and they each use a different bidding procedure. One of these auctions are online. Two Vermont municipalities have tax sales in August and both of these auctions are live. Mississippi and Missouri have their tax sales in August. In the past there were a few Mississippi counties that had online tax sales but this year most of them are online. And 3 of the Missouri county tax sales will be held online this year as well.
Tax Deed Sales
There are a couple of counties in California that have online tax deed sales this summer. There are a quite a few Florida tax deed sales coming up in July and August and many of them are online. Some of these counties may have tax sales as often as once a week! There are a handful of county tax sales coming up in New York from now through September and a couple of them are online. The state of Wisconsin also has some counties that have sealed bid or online tax sales this month, but they typically do not have many properties in their tax sales. Sometimes there are only 1 or 2 properties in these Wisconsin tax sales.
There are a few Louisiana parishes that have online tax deed sales in August, and a handful that have live tax sales – all on August 4. There are Ohio county tax deed sales from now until the beginning of September and a handful of those tax sales are online, although most of them are live. Franklin City and 3 Virginia counties will have tax deed sales this month.
There are plenty of live tax deed sales coming in Arkansas in July and August. The state of Idaho has a hand full of tax sales coming up from now through August. Illinois is a tax lien state, but they also have tax deed sales in July and August and at least one of them is online. Three municipalities in Massachusetts have tax sales coming up but like the state of Wisconsin they typically do not have much available in these tax sales, sometimes only 1 property. Unlike Wisconsin, they do not have any tax sales online.
My favorite state for online tax deed auctions is Michigan and this is the season for Michigan tax sales. Almost all of their tax sales are in August. Esmerelda County Nevada has a live tax deed sale early in August. There are quite a few North Carolina counties with tax sales from now through September. But only counties that have larger cities have more than a handful of properties in their tax sales. There are also a few counties in my state – Pennsylvania, that have deed sales coming up and thanks to the COVID pandemic, some of them are now online. Some of the PA counties have combined their tax sales with the Sheriff sales and they are held on Bid4Assets.com.
Redeemable Deed Sales
Delaware has only 3 counties and they all have a tax sale in July. There are a few counties in Tennessee that have tax sales this summer, and now some of them are online. Some counties in Georgia and Texas have tax sales every month, on the first Tuesday of the month. Only one GA county and a handful of TX counties have their redeemable deed auctions online. Some Connecticut municipalities have redeemable deed sales coming up this summer. All of these sales are live. The city of Philadelphia has an online redeemable deed sale in July.
Where are you spending your vacation this summer? If you’re going to be in one of these states, why not look into the tax sales?
