Here’s another motivational message from my friend Arnfried of Be Motivated Today.
Visit the comments to read about my year of incredible ups downs. This last year – from May 2011 to present has been the toughest yet for me personally. But out of what most people would consider something terrible I gained something great.
Go ahead and leave a comment about the ups and downs in your life if you would like to share. I always love reading what my subscribers have to say about what I post, even when it’s not just about tax liens:)
Is life working well for you at the moment? Or are you going through a tough time?
We go through ups and downs (nothing new about that). You may be on the crest of a wave today, but in a few weeks you could be in a trough. The important thing to remember is that crests and troughs, good times and bad, will come. This knowledge can help you prepare for the tough times while things are going well. It also means you can have hope during a tough time, because you know that things will get better again.
Don’t be surprised when things go wrong. They will. Expect them to and you won’t be caught off guard.
But be excited about the the good times that will be sure to return!
Be all you can be.
With Fond Regards
Arnfried Klein-Werner

Joanne – Throughout the year you have had, you have remained steadfast in your dedication to your business, your clients, and your learning. As one of my premiere members, you have continued to ask good questions and offer great lessons for others. That took a core strength that you are continuing to build and I so admire you for it.
It’s not easy letting others know of the realities we face. Particularly in the online world, I think we gloss over a lot. So I salute you for having the confidence to share your story and your challenges. It’s obvious it’s already touched a lot of people.
Thank you.

Hi Jeanette,
I really appreciate your comment. I think that it took more courage to share my personal life and struggles then it did to keep working my business and stay engaged through it all. It means a lot to me that you, being my first online mentor actually read my blog and commented on it, validating me in my business – thank you! Just yesterday I sent out another personal e-mail to my subscribers (I’m sure that you got it) and I must admit, I was a little afraid to share my personal life with my list of subscribers. What gave me the courage to do so is a book that I’m reading now “Trust Your Heart: Building Relationships That Build Your Business.” Connie Ragen Greene who I know is a good friend of yours is one of the contributing authors, and I was really touched by her chapter in the book. Even though I have been on her list for a few years now I had not known her entire story. It was very inspiring; it was Connie and some of the other authors of this book that inspired me to share more of myself with my customers and subscribers.

I want to thank everyone for your good wishes and for sharing your stories along with me here on this blog. It took me a year before I could even write about what happened to my son Pete, right at the height of his weightlifting career. That was right after he had won three national weightlifting competitions from December 2010 through March of that year. He was on his way to his first Junior World Competition but I had to retire him from USA Weightlifting while he serves his time. This was very tough for me as his Mom and his coach. And I haven’t been able to talk about it publicly until now.
I even forgot about one of the good things that happened this past year. I was a contributing author to the book “Trust Your Heart: Transform Your Ideas Into Income” and the book was a bestseller on Amazon the day it was launched. I couldn’t really enjoy it though because it happened just a couple of days after my son was arrested and we were busy getting him a lawyer, learning about the judicial system in PA, and wondering what was going to happen next.
But through the whole ordeal I was always thankful. Thankful that my son was alive and well and did not come to any harm. I have found that it’s benefits me to thankful for what I do have especially in times of great trouble.
I love Dave’s encouraging stories and the quote “every problem is an opportunity.” How true! I was in a really dark place and that’s what it took for me to really turn my life over to God. I thought I was a spiritual person, but really it was just superficial. It was a spirituality that served me and not God and I think that is where a lot of people are today, especially with the new age movement.
I hope that I don’t offend anyone with my comments, but it seems today that everyone is concerned about what’s “right for them, or what serves them.” I am constantly hearing about some of these self help gurus telling people that they have to get rid of beliefs that don’t serve them. Well I do believe that we have to love and respect ourselves before we can love others. But we are told in the new testament to “Love one another as I have loved you” and to serve others, not to serve ourselves, but it seems to me that what our civilization is all about “what’s in it for me.”
But if we give our lives to Him (regardless of what religious belief you hold) he will provide for our every need.

Good evening Joanne,
Thank you for sharing you story. As a believer, we are all here to lift you up and give you a hug when you need it.
In life I have also struggled with many hardships, but one of the most recent is my divorce after 24 years.
To shorten the story and fast forward, when you get to the point where you are face down and on bended knees, and actually have to depend solely on “God”, especially in your “Faith”, and let him be in control, that is where you will find “Peace”.
Our lives will never be perfect with job, spouse, relationships, etc…until we reach Heaven.
I’m brand new to tax liens and recently invested due to finacial difficulties with the divorce. Pray that your guidance and support, will help us all share Prosper!

Joanne,
Yes, God uses hardships to make us grow. I was laid off from my “dream job” in 2008, but if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t be where I am today. God has used this experience in my life for me to help others in similar situations.
Our daughter in High School also tore her ACL last year. As a result she took up making jewelry, and now has a small business going with products in demand.
I also mentor a young immigrant man who was an orphan from Africa who got into some trouble, and spent over a year in prison, and almost got deported. While in prison, he “met Jesus” and has turned his life around. A few weeks ago he was miraculously released. As he likes to say, God needed to keep him down long enough to get his attention!

thanks for sharing your stories joanne,
I can relate to your youngest son on trying to get a scholarship in sports, but sadly i had a collapsed lung and that put an end to that XD
my other bad luck story would be the day i thought i was leaving for navy bootcamp… i was enlisted for over a year, and didnt do much during that time, since i wanted to enjoy my freedom. Hours before i left for bootcamp i was inform by the doctors that i wont be going, since i was 2 pounds underweight… even after asking my recruiters if my weight was okay during that whole year and they ensured me not to worry. (this was almost a year ago, life is slowly getting better, but hopefully it will pick up once i learn more about tax liens,,, knew about these since 2005 lol)

Hello Joanne.
In bad times it feels good to share problems with your friends.
As you know I just became a student of the Tax Liens Course.
It will take me a little longer to learn from your lessons.
This is the reason:
A few months ago our closest friends(husband and wife)
found out they have pancreatic cancer. We spend a lot of time with them and it seems unreal when I sit down between the two beds
knowing they are dying at any time soon.
But like you say we have to enjoy life and get closer to God.
Frank

Hi Joanne – Kudos for you for sharing intimate details about your life. I too know that setbacks happen but the most important thing is to NOT GIVE UP! I made a mistake and purchased a tax lien learning package that is not very good. But I definitely would like to invest in tax liens in the future.

I’ve had an incredible year with a some ups and a couple of big downs (which you can read about below). One of which has changed the course of my life and until now I have not shared this publicly. What most people would consider to be a terrible thing, without going into all the details, has made my life better and has brought me closer to God and to my family.
Last May my middle son Peter, then 18 years old was arrested and is now spending time in jail…
I came back to my faith, went back to church and made new really good friends. And I got closer to my immediate and extended family and found out who my real friends are …
Then my youngest son Nick tore his ACL while wrestling in the Pennsylvania district 11 championships. His hopes for scholarship offers for both wrestling and track were damaged along with his knee. But he is only a high school junior and has one more year of high school left. His best chance at getting an athletic scholarship was to have the surgery now, and recover for next year’s wrestling and track season. He was operated on on my Birthday…
I hosted my first one day Tax Lien Investing Conference in April and it was a huge success in spite of technical difficulties. Now I’m looking forward to hosting another bigger 2 day conference in the fall…
Nick’s knee got infected and he needed more surgery a week in the hospital 2 states away and intravenous antibiotics for a few weeks. This set back his rehab and his GPA…
My oldest son Billy comes home from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia with his undergraduate degree and 3.93 average (which he is not happy with but I think is awesome). His dad and I are happy to have him home and able to help out around the house, but now we have to figure out how we’re going to help him pay for his graduate year at Thomas Jefferson!
