In my former career, I was a fitness consultant and personal trainer. I even studied biochemistry with an emphasis in nutrition at college.?Since it is?the time of?year when we all tend to overindulge a little,?I thought it fitting to include this motivation from Be Motivated Today on a topic that?has been epidemic in our nation and it seems now around the world – overindulging in the wrong foods and obesity.
I am not one of these people that only eats healthy all the time. Although I do eat healthy most of the time. I have an occasional glass of wine and I do like my sugary treats. I’m able to maintain a healthy weight and a healthy heart through regular exercise. As a personal trainer I used to tell my clients that exercise covers a multitude of sins. Not that you should endulge in what ever you want to eat all of the time. But when you do, just pay a little more attention to how much you exercise and do a little more. And not?that I condone unhealthy activities like smoking cigarettes, but smokers who exercise are healthier and have less risk of many illnesses than non-smoking couch potatoes.
Here’s your Monday Motivation from my friend Arnfried at Be Motivated Today:
As a result of our busy lifestyle, we tend to neglect ourselves in terms of nutrition and fitness.
Too many carbohydrates are consumed in the form of starches such as breads, pasta, potatoes and rice as well as from alcohol and sweet foods like chocolates and biscuits.
The result is putting on of weight.
Many people are too busy to stay committed to an exercise programme. Thus exercise is sporadic and inconsistent. As a result we put on weight.
This has the following negative affects.
1.Being overweight is uncomfortable.
2.Carrying excess weight reduces stamina.
3.One is more tired.
4.It also increases risk of cancer, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes and gall bladder disease.
5.It decreases joint health.
The Associated Press recently reported that doctors now regard obesity as a global health threat. In fact, according to an analysis by an environmental research group, obesity has raised the incidence of heart disease, stroke, breast cancer and colon cancer. If obesity continues to surge at its current rate, it’s estimated that over 400,000 people will die from obesity-related illnesses – and that’s just in the United States!
Obesity among people all over the world is at epidemic proportions. The Worldwatch Institute found that the number of overweight people around the world has climbed to 1.1 billion!
Think about what you can do so you don’t fall prey to this epidemic.
Affirmations:
I eat healthily
I limit my carbohydrate foods
I look after my health
Be all you can be.
With Fond Regards

Hi Joanne,
In this article on fitness, you really nailed my chief neglect,
that of being well over weight! For my height, 5′-7″, I should be
around 135lbs., instead of my present 240lbs.!
